Tried this the other day w/ Susan's cousin, who loves NRhones:
1. OjaiVnyd Syrah BienNacidoVnyd/SantaBarbaraCnty (13%) OakView 1996: Very dark color w/ some bricking; slight funky/wet wool/hantavirus/mousey that clears to quite smokey/pungent/oak/toasty some blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah/licorice/black cherry cola bit peppery/cold-climate slight perfumed/cinammon slight Rhonish/roasted quite complex nose; fairly tart bit dried out/tannic strong pungent/oak/toasty/smokey some blackberry/licorice/boysenberry/Syrah complex flavor w/ light astringent/drying tannins; very long bit dried out/astringent/tannic some black cherry cola/licorice/blackberry/Syrah slight peppery/c-c strong toasty/smokey/oak fairly complex finish w/ light drying tannins; dominated by the toasty/smokey/oak but still has good fruit; drying out on the palate but still offers up some pleasure.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This was a btl from my orphan stash in the garage. Should have been totally shot. It was not and still had plenty of interesting/oldOjai character to it.
