I had lunch w/ SteveEdmunds at A16/Rockridge on Sat and thought I'd take something I could dazzle Steve with. I failed:
1. Eric Texier Ad'OC: Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc (VieillesVignes; 14%; Clairette/Bourboulenc; Non filtre) Charvnay 2001: Very dark golden/burnished bronze color; strong nutty/toasted hazelnuts somewhat oxidized/adelhydic pretty dead nose; soft toasted hazelnuts/oldRhone white rather oxidized some aldehydic ripe flavor w/ slight bitterness; long oldRhone white rather oxidized some aldehydic somewhat bitter finish; some interesting oldRhone white character and not at all unpleasant but not much life left in this.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. As a rule, I really like Eric Texier's wines. After all, he was a Nuclear Engineer in a previous life...which say a lot. I was expecting great things from this but, alas, it failed to deliver.
The day was saved by Steve's EdStJ Bone-Jolly Rose '15. Always one of my favorite roses each yr. And his Durrell Syrah '91, of course.
