WTN: Carlisle CMP White '13...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Jul 25, 2016 9:44 am

Too hot for a red and just wanted something refreshing to accompany my fresh tomatoes/basil/burrata, so went with a sure thing:
1. Carlisle CMP WW SonomaCnty (13.3%; Plntd: 1895-1920; Colombard/Muscadelle/Palomino; 225 cs) 2013: Light gold color; very fragrant/perfumed mango/pineapple light earthy/chalky/mineral lovely aromatic nose; rather tart very strong mango/pineapple/Muscadelle some chalky/mineral/earthy/tangy lovely flavor; very long strong mango/dried mango/dried pineapple/floral light stony/mineral/tangy/metallic finish; a lovely bright/nervy great drinking white at a stupid/silly price. $22.00

In these old vnyds, they once planted a lot of Sauv Vert. DNA has shown what was called Sauv Vert is mostly Muscadelle, with some, perhaps, being Tokai Friulano. I think the TTB allows the usage of either name.

Hi Tom-
Found this from you while searching for Friulano.
"DNA has shown what was called Sauv Vert is mostly Muscadelle, with some, perhaps, being Tokai Friulano." For what it's worth, Wiki says, "Sauvignon vert (also known as Sauvignonasse & Friulano) is a white wine grape of the species Vitis vinifera. It is widely planted in Chile where it was historically mistaken for Sauvignon blanc. The grape is distinct from the California planting of Muscadelle which is also called Sauvignon vert." True? I didn't know both varietals went by the same name in different places.
