WTN: Gulpable Vin de France (and more)

2011 Marc Tempe Pinot Blanc (Alsace). One of my favorite French whites. Golden color. Apple, savory mineral notes. Very gulpable!

2013 Petit Jo (Grenache-Cotes du Rhone but labeled as Vin de France) What a fresh and delightful French "natural" wine. No sulfur or added anything. When bottle opened, there was a pretty strong funkiness on the nose, but the wine tasted delightful. Black cherry, anise, strawberry, and black pepper. Lively mouth feel. Refreshing acidity. A very nice wine!

2008 Madonna Estate "Due Ragazze" Pinot Noir. NOT a typical Carneros Pinot Noir, this was all about forest floor and earth and quite savory at this point in its life. It's pretty soft, and the tannins are fully resolved, so this wine is not for lengthy further cellaring, but right now it was deliciously funky earthy wine full of lovely Pinot fruit.

2010 Clos Du Val Winemakers' Reserve Bordeaux Blend. Very evolved (warm storage?) but this spoke far more of savory, earthy Bordeaux than of sunny, fruity California. Delightful, in other words. All about the cigar box, but there was a delicious blast of cassis fruit on the finish!
