WTN: A game changing Nerello Mascalese

2013 Vino di Anna (Anna Martens) PalmentoVino da Tavola Nerello Mascalese

I can't remember the last time I tasted such an aromatic, captivating fresh, young wine. This is incredible--nerello mascalese with so little skin contact that in it's clear white bottle it looks like a dark rose. On the palate, though, there's much more body than you expect and lots of complex, cinnamonny spice, and it drinks like burgundy. This wine is the poster child of what wldg is all about--adventurous, celebrating the different and lacking every aspect of spoofulation. OUTSTANDING.

And I only bought one to try, and that was months ago so I probably can't find another--no one who bought this and tasted it right away, unlike stupid me, wouldn't have gone back for the rest. $27, btw, at a local shop whose prices are higher than average.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Jenise, Vino di Anna is a new name for me but it sounds as if I should be seeking out her wines. I looked up the estate and see that it is located on the north side of Etna http://www.vinodianna.com/ , so it should come as no surprise that the result is outstanding. I am curious to know why this wine is classified as Vino di Tavola and not Etna Rosso. Vines from just outside the appellation zone? Some unauthorised practices?

On Wednesday I'll leave for a twenty days holiday in Sicily, really close to Etna.
Vini di Anna is a new name for me but I'll try to contact them for a visit!
