Tried this last night w/ dinner:
1. Forlorn-Hope Suspiro del Moro Alvarelhao SilvaspoonsVnyd/AltaMesa/Lodi (12.47%; 643 cs; www.ForlornHopeWines.com) Murphys 2015: Med.color; strong earthy/mushroomy/Lodi red rather fragrant plummy/cranberry/lavender/spicy/basil/dried oregano lovely bit exotic nose; fairly soft/elegant quite Lodi/earthy/loamy/mushroomy slight tangy plummy/cranberry/lavender/dried herbs/Italian spices flavor w/ light smooth/ripe tannins; med.long soft some earthy/Lodi/mushroomy/loamy some cranberry/plummy slight tangy bit herbal/dried basil/lavender finish w/ light soft tannins; speaks strongly of Lodi terroir; quite an exotic nose but doesn't deliver as much on the palate; light & lively for a Lodi red w/o the soft/overripe/soupy character some show; an attractive/elegant Lodi red. $26.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Alvarelhao is a grape variety of NorthernPortugal, mostly in the Dao. DNA has nothing to say about the grape. What was once distributed by FPS as Alvarelhao is now known to be TourigaNacional, a Port grape.
