Frog's Leap 2006 Napa Valley "Rutherford."
Proprietary red wine, 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 13.7% ABV. (As of 2012, this bottling has been discontinued and replaced by the "Rutherford Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon," which, as far as I can tell, reflects the fact that the source vineyards of the latter bottling are now all FL-owned, and not any significant change in the varietal composition of the wine, which could have been labeled a varietal Cab in the old days too, but wasn't.)
Checking in on this at 10 years of age, it's adolescent but gracefully so. Fresh, vibrant color, intense cassis, licorice, a little leafiness, neither particularly green nor super-ripe (gob forbid); well-framed by still-decent acidity, tannins have loosened their grip a bit and wood treatment is now approaching imperceptible. First glasses popped-and-poured, then the remainder decanted; two hours in to the bottle it discombobulates, but then finds its focus again by the end. Very good now, if not profound, but also seems really young, with a long way to go before it reaches its apex. The elements seem to be there and in good balance; will hold the other two of these and try a bottle again in 5-10 years.
