Found this weird wine at CortiBros & tried it last night:
1. MountainWineElaboration Calvino Jones LakeCnty/Calif RW (25% CanaSprings Syrah/16% ShannonRidge PS/14% Snow'sLake PetiteVerdot/7% Snow'sLake Malbec/4% ShannonRidge Grenache/4% ShannonRidge Mourvedre/3% ShannonRidge CabSauv/4% RobinHill Zin/4% Podeidon PinotNoir/3% Silva Merlot/3% Snow'sLake Tempranillo/2% DuncanShine Zin; U; 14.2%; "Shiney") P&B by winemakers anonymous/Kelseyville 2010: Med.dark color; some blackberry/Syrah/spicy light toasty/vanilla/oak bit peppery/earthy/loamy light pungent/oregano quite interesting nose; slightly tart light toasty/oak rather spicy some blackberry/plummy/Syrah/Zin some earthy/loamy/mushroomy rather attractive/interesting flavor w/ light smooth tannins; lightly tart some vanilla/toasty/Am.oak rather spicy/blackberry/Syrah/Zin light earthy/loamy structured finish w/ light tangy tannins; speaks mostly of Zin & Syrah ans some of LakeCnty; could use a few yrs; despite the loony label this is quite an attractive/interesting red at a very fair price; a well-crafted if unusual blend. $18.00 (CB)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I encountered this weird wine label on the shelves at CortiBros and thought..WTF...I must have this ugly/complicated/fussy/obtuse label. Sparse details can be found at:
WineMakersAnonymous
This is a posse of several winemakers. Apparently led by QuincySteele (Jed's son). These guys are just out having some fun whilst they're trying to decide to be when they want to grow up. The first two wines were made at SteeleWnry. Now being made up in Boonville. I plan to keep track of these loony guys.
I have no idea what the "shiney" on the label means.
I was prepared to not like this wine because of the ugly label and didn't think it was "serious" wine. It seemed that they just dumped all these various lots of wine and slapped this label on it & moved it out the door. Such wines usually come out tasting "gray" and have nothing to hang your hat upon. But this wine is actually serious wine and pretty danged good.
