WTN: 2007 Produttori Barbaresco

by David from Switzerland » Tue Jun 28, 2016 7:18 pm

Still saving old TNs typed on my mobile phone.

29 December 2015 at La Vigna, a couple of wines ordered from the wine list there - at very sane prices!

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Montefico 2007
Luminescent, medium-deep garnet-red. Fruity-floral, perfumed, medium-plus weight, long, flavorful, complex tannin, medium acidity, a most pretty wine. dp 93

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Pajé 2007
Deep, almost opaque purple-garnet, watery red at the rim. More density, power and tannin, chewier, firm mid-palate, impressive depth and persistence for the vintage, more concentrated as well as higher-acid. Complex and firm fruit and milk-chocolate. dp 93+/94(+?)

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

Nice!

I am a big fan of the 2007 PdB wines. I went quite long across the board, especially since I was able to get the Riservas for under $40/bottle. They were delicious on release, and have stayed quite open and generous. They also have a solid core that should reward mod-term aging while waiting for more structured wines to mature, such as the 2008s.
