WTN: Fabulous Gewurztraminer

by Jim Grow » Sun Jun 26, 2016 8:35 pm

2013 Cantina Terlano Gewurztraminer; I have loved this producer for 5 years or so, I know I'm getting into them late, but the 2013 surpasses all expectations. From the Alto Adige of northern Italy, this wine has it all. The nose is full of spicey pear and the palate is the same with the excellent bitterness of deeply extracted fruit and great acidity. With 14.5% abv and a glorious mouth-feel full of glycerin, I am looking to buy a case to be set aside until I can get to The Party Source this Fall. This wine will be drinkable for at least 10+ years. I am done with Alsace when I can get dry white wines like this from northern Italy.
Tartrate crystals included!

Drove past there many times. Wish I'd known.

I can well imagine there are many wineries to visit, some off the beaten path and not at all well known.
