Tried these two last night at dinner:
1. vonWinning Riesling Deidesheimer Grainhubel GG (trocken; Qualitatswein; A.P.Nr.5 106 327 066 15; TerryTheiseSlctn) Deidesheim/Pfalz 2014: Pale gold color; very strong R/floral/mango/pineapple perfumed light mineral/slatey bit spicy lovely nose; very tart/lean/steely/tangy/bone dry fairly rich strong R/floral/pineapple/mango light mineral/stony very dry bit austere flavor; very long/lingering minerally/steely/stony/austere strong R/mango/pineapple very tart/tangy/metallic finish; a classic young Pfalz R w/ a bracing acidity that should go out 20 yrs. $43.00 (AV)

Vietti DOCG: Barbera d'Asti TreVigne (14%; U; www.Vietti.com; dallaTerraImports; L1158) Castiglione Falletto 2009: Very dark color; strong classic Barbera/spicy/Italian sausage/fennel seed slight earthy/dusty light toasty/oak quite attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy/metallic quite spicy/classic Barbera flavor w/ light tangy tannins; very long some dusty/OV tart/tangy/lean rather spicy/Barbera/Italian sausage finish w/ modest tangy/hard tannins; a pretty classic Piemonte Barbera that could go several more yrs.
