2012 Peche Merle Winery Zinfandel. Dry Creek (Canyon Road, which runs between Dry Creek Valley and Geyserville). Peche Merle is a small winery in Geyserville. I remember liking this wine when I stopped on a cycling trip, and it showed well with the black peppery ribs last night. Joe (my friend) got more sweet fruit on the palate, but for me it was all about black pepper and cassis and raspberry. Sleek texture as well, but the oak was not too dominant.

Also: Broc Cellars 2014 Sonoma Coast Michael Marr Vineyard Chardonnay. Odd wine. Bracing acidity and a savory note. Did not taste like "Chardonnay" at all (Chenin Blanc was mentioned), but would make a lovely seafood wine.
