WTN: 2007 Wiemer Riesling Dry (Finger Lakes)

by David M. Bueker » Mon May 30, 2016 9:26 am

2007 Hermann J. Wiemer Riesling Dry - USA, New York, Finger Lakes (5/29/2016)
Someone has a very loose definition of dry, as this is anything but. Still it's a tasty wine, with plenty of apple and peach fruit. There is a bit of developed creaminess, and even the beginnings of a nutty, oxidative element that is light enough to add complexity, rather than obscure the other virtues of the wine. Very good stuff, just don't call it dry. (From 1.5L)

Yes, I've run into Wiemer's loose definition of "dry" before. Depending on vintage, seems to range from what I'd call halbtrocken/feinherb Kab to full-blown Spatlese sweetness. Never had one that was dry in a Trimbach or GG sense. Good for you for cellaring.
