WTN: Hello Gorgeous

2015 Graham Beck 'Gorgeous' rose, South Africa
This wine has an absolutely horrible label--pink and blue and fussy with just the word GORGEOUS in bold print. Looks like baby shampoo. I'd have totally passed it by had I seen it sitting on a shelf somewhere. But instead I bought it from Southern Hemisphere wines in Southern California, sight unseen, based on their high reccomendation. So glad! This isn't a saignee, or a girly wine, it's a very dry blended chardonnay and pinot noir with great flavor and a firm, minerally palate presence of the type winelovers on this board appreciate. It's seriously good, not light and frilly as it looks.

Me, too. And as a female, I'm not just turned off by the marketing, I'm especially offended by the idea that putting frills or cupids or lipstick or what have you on a label will make a wine appealing to me.

I have rarely been disappointed with Graham Beck´s wines.

Me neither, Fredrik. That's why when it was recco'd to me over the phone, I said 'sure'. But the name is hidden by the frills on the label--and most serious wine people would walk on by before they'd see it.
