WTN: Ravenswood Zin OldHillVnyd '88...(short/boring)

Last btl from my case of '88 Zins:
1. Ravenswood Zin OldHillVnyd/SonomaVlly (LimitedEdition; Picking: Sept 3/1988; Bttlg: July 3/1990; 97 yr old vines; 392 cs; TA: 0.8; 13.5%) 1988: Dark color w/ slight bricking; strong blackberry/Zin/boysenberry/spicy rather dusty/OV some smokey/toasty/Fr.oak quite complex nose; soft bit tangy/metallic strong spicy/blackberry/Zin/licorice/boysenberry light toasty/smokey/oak rather dusty/OV bit dried-out flavor w/ light bit astringent tannins; very long/lingering strong blackberry/Zin/spicy/licorice some tangy/metallic/dried-out quite dusty/OV classic SonomaVlly/OV Zin complex finish w/ light bit drying/astringent tannins; still lots of classic OHZin fruit in the nose but drying out on the palate; still hanging in there and gives pleasure. $17.00 (A)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Note that this is the very/very rare Ravenswood LimitedEdition. I'm having lunch w/ Joel in a few weeks & now wish't I'd saved this btl for that occasion.
This wine was much more alive & more spicy Zin fruit than the '88 Geyserville of ystrday. It's not as smooth & gentle as that one and shows more drying out on the palate than the Geyserville.
