2012 Bott-Geyl Riesling Schlossberg - France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru (5/24/2016)Previous posters have noted that this starts out a bit wan on flavor, but it quickly opens up with crunchy tree fruit and a rich, almost oily texture. It's dry (hooray for dry Alsatian Riesling) but that does come at the expense of a weighty and slightly alcoholic palate presence. This is no dancer. It's more Riesling after 6 months of Crossfit. Good wine that needs to be served with food. It's too weighty to have as an aperitif otherwise sip on its own.
