1. This was pretty typical of many of the skin-contact whites...they are rather painful to taste by themselves and not a whole lot of pleasure to drink. They badly need food to accompany them. When I drank this w/ my leftover proscuitto tortellini in cream sauce, it took on this rich/unctuous character and was a pleasure to drink, not at all austere & unpleasant.
Even though the color was a deep burnished bronze, it is not what I would call an "orange" wine in the sense of Gravner or qvervi-fermented Georgian wine in that there was no signs of oxidation. I would guess from the phenolic content, that this had skin-contact throughout fermentation, though it was not all that tannic on the palate. RG has the 2'nd highest tannin content of white grapes, right after Furmint.
