WTN: EdStJohn LesCotesSauvages American RTW NV..(short/borin

So, working on this EdStJ case, I cracked:
1. EdmundsStJohn LesCotesSauvages American RTW (12 1/2%) Emeryville NV('88?): Med.color w/ little bricking; somewhat smokey/Rhonish/roasted some pencilly/toasted quite fragrant/perfumed beautiful/complex/aromatic elegant nose; lightly tart/tangy very smokey/roasted/Rhonish light earthy slight blackberry/blueberry/Syrah/strawberry quite elegant/balanced complex flavor w/ light smooth/silky tannins; very long/lingering some smokey/roasted/Rhonish/pencilly lightly tart/tangy slight blackberry/blueberry/strawberry/Syrah bit earthy smooth/elegant/very complex balanced aromatic finish w/ light smooth/gentle tannins; not an old Rhone CdP or Syrah but a textbook/perfectly mature EdStJ; stunning wine; drink up.
$16.00 (CS/Carmel)

This was about as perfect a mature EdStJ that you can have. I hate wines like this...the btls was 2/3'rds gone when I finally sat down to eat. The good news is that I have 4 more btls left. I'll probably bring 3 out for WoodShed Rhones in a month.

Tom; can you text me a picture of the label so I can be sure of which wine it is; we had a couple of N/V Les Cotes Sauvages bottlings. I'm having some problems sending email using my phone (I'm on the East Coast and away from my computer).
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...

Steve,
I can't scan the label until I see Susan on Fri. Will try to do it then.
It was in the same box as the '88 Mourv & the Port O'Call, so probably the '88.
I'll check the btl & see if the btlg date is laser-etched into the btl!!! :-)

can't you just take a pic with your iPhone and send it out, Tom? I didn't mean to make it complicated?

SayWhot, Steve?? My iPhone??? Don't have one. My cell phone is almost 20 yrs old. Back in WWII, it was
called a "walkie-talkie". But it does have a USB port to connect to my punched card reader!! :-)

I will take the label down to Susan's Fri, have her take its pic w/ her iPadMini...and e-mail it to you. Have patience.

Or I may take the .jpg image down to the WesternUnion telegraph operator and have him telegraph it to your iPhone
in MorseCode. Your iPhone does interpret MorseCode doesn't it?? ..- --..- ---..-. .-.--..

'88

by TomHill » Sun May 08, 2016 11:09 am

Steve confirmed from the pic that this was the '88. The other non-vintage LCS he made was a '90 w/ "Wahulke Slope" on the label.
He was surprised that this '88 LCS held up so well in that it had a very high pH WashState Grenache in it.
