Weekend Wines (Summers, Corison)

From a post-ride tasting session in Napa.

2015 Sequoia Grove Rose. This was a very attractive savory Rose of Syrah from up in Atlas Peak. Definitely some minerality. Follows through on the "salmon skin color means it will taste good" meme!

2013 Summers Alexander Valley Chardonnay. From Stuhlmuller Vineyard down at the end of a dead end road off the main highway. This is a very distinctive Chardonnay that I might put up there with Broc or Matthiason! It sees some neutral oak, but this is all about crispness, bright fruit and a distinctive, delicious saline quality I described as almost "salty". I LOVE saline notes in wines, so this was right up our alley!

2012 Summers Knights Valley Petit Sirah. Another winner from this small family estate! Despite their way up valley location of Tubbs Lane in Calistoga, these wines tend to the lithe, elegant, and savory side. The blueberry is here, but underpinned by that savory, earthy, and bright side of GOOD pet. Delicious wine.

2012 Summers Charbono. From Calistoga. Again, nice fruit but great bright acidity and lithe mouth feel.

I need to evaluate my (excessive number) of wine clubs, but I am keeping this one!

1999 Acapello (Corison Kronos Vineyard) Petit Sirah. Wow. This is one outstanding Petit Sirah. All about savory earthiness and elegant black, red, and blue fruit. The wine sang with the red meat. Tannins are no longer angular or obtrusive in any way. The Corison Kronos Vineyard was originally planted to Petit, but a few of the replantings didn't take, and Kathy made some killer Petit Sirah!

Slightly confused by nomenclature. Is Acapella a separate brand or is this a Corison wine? And it's from Kronos vineyard?
I've only had the Corison cabs (regular and Kronos)

Dale:

This was made by Cathy Corrison under a "special" label, Acapella, just for her turn-of-the-century Petit Sirahs.

She also has a second label. Helios, under which she releases a Rose of Cabernet, a Cabernet Franc, a dry Gewurtztraminer, and a killer Syrah. All showing her deft touch in winemaking and all delicious.
