1. Found this on the shelf in SantaFe last weekend and thought I'd give it a test drive. This is 90% Arneis plus other aromatic grapes (Muscat?). From the Trinita vnyd. Harvested in late Nov w/ botrytised grapes & frmtd/aged in Fr.oak.
This is a stellar dessert wine. It is plenty sweet but has a nice acidity to balance the sugar w/o veering into the sweet/sour paradigm. The very strong orangey character more of passito Muscat and the botrytis is a quiet undertone. No signs of oak to speak of and not the heaviness you get in some Sauternes. Should easily go out 20 yrs or more. Terrific wine & I'm going back for more.
