SacBee: Dunne on Dashe

by TomHill » Wed Apr 20, 2016 11:50 am

A rather good/interesting read in today's SacBee:
DasheCllrs
by MikeDunne on DasheCllrs.
I like the wines Mike&Anne make. Particularly their Zins. I think their PotterVlly Riesling is one of the best made in Calif and puts to rest the idea that Calif can't make great Riesling. It displays in stark fashion the "terroir" of McFaddenRanch!! :-)
I am far less dazzled by their l'EnfantTerrible wines (Zin & Grenache) and no longer try them. They certainly fit the "natural" wine mold and are certainly "different" (which, normally, make me like them), and (perhaps) display their "terroir"...but they just don't resonate much w/ me.

Anyway, nice article by Mike.

I am a big fan of Dashe.

And, I am much more into the "natural" wines, so I love the "LEnfante Terrible" wines also.

Even his regular Dashe zinfandels are light and lively by modern zin standards, though. .I actually tasted grittiness from what tasted like sugar in a zin from another producer this weekend! Awful stuff.
