Tried this wine last night:
1. Nettare di Bacco Honey Wine Idromele (14%; Lotto No.31; www.DottorPescia.com) Rosignano Marittimo/Livorno/Toscano NV: Deep golden brown/Oloroso color; slight oak/vanilla low-key mead/honeyed/earthy some Madeira-like/aldehydic very fragrant/perfumed complex lovely nose; off-dry rather honeyed/mead/earthy/bee barf lightly tart/tangy slight vanilla/oak/caramel/butterscotch bit aldehydic/Maderia-like quite complex unusual/lovely flavor; very long/lingering bit aldehydic some honeyed/mead/bee barf/earthy light vanilla/caramel off-dry complex finish; a very exotic/unusual quite delicious dessert wine. $31.00/500 ml (BWM)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Served this last night as a mystery dessert wine. Nobody had a clue it was not made from grapes. With Beth's Caramel Macarons, it was a killer match.
This is a mead that is aged in barriques. Found it earlier in the week at the BoulderWineMerchant & thought I'd give it a try. It shows a bit of that earthy character you get in unrefined honey. Pretty exotic stuff worth trying.
