2014 Domaine Collotte Marsannay Rose'. 13% abv. A rose' from Pinot Noir. A pale coral or salmon color with clarity. Scents of citrus and slightly under-ripe red fruit (primarily strawberries.) Pleasantly tart and acidic with hints of lemon and barely ripe strawberries. I find it goes down easily in large swallows. It strikes me as a sort of typical Pinot Noir rose' but I did not like it quite as much as a Bruno Clair Marsannay rose' I had in the past. I have two more bottles to enjoy in warmer weather.
2014 Domaine Vissoux/Pierre-Marie Chermette Beaujolais "Les Griottes" Rose'. 12.5% abv. Salmon color with clarity. Medium body and length on the finish. I find hints of persimmon and citrus in the nose and on the palate. Delicately balanced and an attractive wine great for warm weather sipping. I preferred this to the Marsannay rose' open a few days before this one. With pork egg rolls one evening and with an Asian-influenced tuna casserole another evening. I would purchase again if available in my area (this one was shipped from California.)
