'12 Knapp Merlot

2012 Knapp Finger Lakes Merlot: This is a wine rich in fruit flavors upfront, with more fruit and slightly muted tannins in the middle. The finish has a nice touch of earthiness, followed by a touch of toasty oak. A lovely full bodied wine we thoroughly enjoyed with grilled lamb rib chops and sautéed eggplant slices tonight. Yum!

2012 is the new benchmark for NY State reds, pretty much across the board: CS, CF, Merlot, Meritage blends and PN.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

I don’t believe so Dan, (the wine is labelled “Finger Lakes”) as Howie pointed out 2012 was an “outstanding” year all around the state- Upstate didn’t need much help from Downstate. When state farm vineyards buy grapes from other state farm wineries outside their region they usually market the wines as just New York State wine. (We have down state wine producers bottling New York State Riesling) Tell you the truth; I’m not so sure if there is an officially 100 % ruling on this. For the most part the regional growers associations, growers and producer more or less “police” themselves Their main goal is to produce a distinguishable ‘regional wine”.

Salute
