WTN: Sonoma Wines Laurel Glen and Ramsgate

With braised short ribs and herbed polenta: 2006 Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon. This is just a classic wine. Tannins beginning to resolve but still there. I love the flavor profile, though, of dark cherry, cassis, earth, tobacco, and leather. What a beautiful wine!

2012 Ramsgate Pinot Noir Bush Crispo Vineyard RRV.
From a newish winery in southern Sonoma County (Carneros-near the racetrack). Beautiful posh complex designed by Howard Backen in a rustic barn style. A little intimidating 8) but one has to admire the architecture-and the incredible views.

Anyway...the wine was definitely in a rich, fruit forward California style. Dark RRV fruit for sure. Some nice earthiness. For my palate, it could use more acid, but we loved the sheer silken mouth feel of the wine. Not necessarily my style, but this is a very pretty, elegant version of the classic modern California style. And that silky mouth feel! 8)

Good notes. You remind me that it's well past time to taste another 03, which I bought a case of. I've probably only drunk 2 or 3 of them.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
