WTN: 2011 Michel Schlumberger "Le Sage" Merlot

My third bottle of this modestly priced Dry Creek Merlot (blended with a little Syrah and Petit Verdot).

Better, more-Frenchy 8) than the second bottle, but maybe a little more high toned.

All about the cherry fruit here. Bright cherry fruit. Not the plum I expect with Merlot. Highly polished, high toned mouth feel. A hit of acid mid-palate. Earth, a hint of funk, and quite a nice savory tobacco element. I love tobacco in red wine, even though I have never been a smoker.

Tannins are here, but not on the back of the mouth but more mid-palate. Odd!

An interesting and good QPR wine!
