WTN: 2012 Bedrock "Griffin's Lair" Syrah (Sonoma Coast)

with lamb and potatoes! Started out quite fruit forward-very floral though, with black fruit and a touch of earth.

By the end of the night, a more typical Syrah character came through, with (still) floral notes, meaty savory elements, and black pepper. I liked it from the pop-and-pour, but the end of the night made it sing!

Excellent!

I have not yet gotten a handle on that vineyard. I have had bottles from Pax's ventures as well as Arnot-Roberts, and it seems to straddle a moving line of richness hat is outside of what I normally see from those producers. At some point I expect I will be offered a Bedrock version, and maybe the site will better fit Morgan's vision to my taste.

Yes, there was definitely richness in the wine, but at least (contra too many Cali Syrahs  ) still Syrah character, even at the beginning.

Quoting Tom, I wonder if a few more years would make it even better!
