WTN: 1989 Chateau La Tour Blanche Sauternes

by Paul Winalski » Mon Mar 28, 2016 11:42 am

Lovely golden color. Very complex aromas of fruits and spices, mostly dried apricots. Very lively, sweet, full mouth-feel, with apricot flavors dominating, but there is a lot going on here. There is a peacock-tail explosion of flavor in the finish, which goes on for minutes. This is excellent mature Sauternes. My one quibble is that there is a burst of Botrytis shoe polish at the start of the finish. This quickly fades into balance with everything else, though.

Double Curly Moe. (The Moe is for the shoe polish burst in the finish.)
