WTN: Chablis and Pfalz

by Dale Williams » Fri Mar 25, 2016 2:33 pm

Monday grilled some pork tenderloin whuch we served with a pipian sauce, along with squash & quinoa. Wine was the 2013 Von Winning “Ungeheuer” Grosses Gewachs. Big, crisp, piercing acids. Totally dry, apple and peach with ginger accents. Lovely full-scaled Riesling. B+/A-

Tuesday I had a board meeting and then met a group in city, so no wine. Wednesday I shucked a few oysters while Betsy made flounder, broccoli rabe, & salad. Wine was the 2010 Defaix “Cote de Lechet” Chablis 1er. Crisp, dry, lemony with a tangy mineral finish. B/B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Pricing didn't faze me!

(because it was a gift from Betsy's bowmaker) :)
