Tried this last night:
1. PolyMathWine Riesling BohanVnyd/FtRoss-Seaview (12.8%) 2014: Med.light gold color; beautiful flinty/mineral/Mosel valve oil/gout de petrol lightly floral/pineapple/mango quite Germanic/Austrian R nose; quite tart/tangy/bit metallic totally dry strong mineral/flinty/steely/Mosel valve oil light floral/mango/pineapple/R some complex Germanic flavor; very long/lingering Mosel valve oil/steely/flinty/mineral light mango/pineapple/R quite tart/tangy/bracing totally dry finish; one of the best Calif R I've had in ages; much like a Wachau R but not as rich & lush; avoids the tutti-frutti character of many Calif R; blows away any Navarro or Claibourne&Churchill R's. $27.50

1. PolyMath is the label of SavannaWright, asst winemaker at Failla. This is the 3'rd time I've tried this wine in the last year. This is the best btl yet. The wine is really hitting prime-time. See no reason it shouldn't got out another 10 yrs or longer.
I've long thought the extreme SonomaCoast (where BohanVnyd is located) is a no-brainer site for Riesling. This wine confirms that thought. HirschVnyd originally had R planted but, alas, they pulled it. I've had a number of MarinCnty R that I thought were first-rate. And the old Ridge WhiteRieslings were exceptional.
I hate wines like this. I crack the btl as I start preparing dinner and keep hearing it chirp at me from the counter..."Here..have just one more glass...I won't hurt you"...and before you know it, when you sit down to eat...the btl is pert near gone. Hate those wines, I do.
