by TomHill » Mon Mar 21, 2016 11:06 am

Tried this last night:
1. Ridge Zin HookerCreek/SonomaVlly/SonomaCnty (BedrockVnyd; 96% Zin/2% AlicanteBouschet/2% PS; 2% water addition;
15.0%; 34 brls; bttld 12/2015; Drk: 9/15-9/21-9/22: JO) 2014
: Dark color; quite dusty/OV light vanilla/oak/DraperPerfume strong blackberry/peppery/boysenberry/Zin/very spicy beautiful complex nose; lightly tart very spicy quite dusty/OV strong blackberry/boysenberry/Zin/peppery light vanilla/tobaccoy/DP/oak quite balanced somewhat complex flavor; very long/lingering rather vanilla/Am.oak/smokey very dusty/OV quite spicy blackberry/raspberry/boysenberry/Zin finish w/ some brisk/wirey tannins; speaks loud&clear of SonomaVlly Zin and of Ridge Zin, maybe even of BedrockVnyd Zin; a beautiful/lovely Zin. $30.00 (Z-List)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. The '13 was the first HookerCreek Zin for Ridge, from the Bedrock Vnyd. I thought it was nice...just that. This '14 I thought was even better. It seems to be lighter/brighter/more elegant expression of Bedrock than the Bedrock or Carlisle. I was quite taken by the wine's strong spiciness...quintessential Zin.
