1999 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/20/2016)
This is drinking beautifully right now. It's in a mid-maturity phase, and while further development is likely, it would be a shame to miss the crystalline purity of the wine at this point in its evolution. Apple, lemon cream and puff pastry aromas are just the beginning, as spice and citrus zest elements emerge with air, and provide additional complexity. Moderate acids balance a mid weight palate presence, and result in a wine that is eminently drinkable, and in fact quaffable, which is a feat for Auslese (though no feat for Prum). Delicious.

That sounds delicious.
Think I've drunk up my meager stash of '99s, except for a couple Dr Fischer OckBock auslese, which are no Prum,

This was the first 1999 that gave me any hope that the 1999s I have been holding are going to be worth drinking. I just took a look at what I have and 80% of it is Prum, Donnhoff and von Schubert, so the odds are in my favor. I will be grabbing a few more soon to further assess the situation.
