Since I had a few xtra of this vnyd-designate Zin, I decided to Pobega:

Carlisle Zin SaitoneRanch/RRV/SonomaCnty (14.7%; Plntd: 1895; 300 cs; U/U; + Carignane/Vacaresse/CriollaMediana + AlicanteBouschet/GrandNoir/PetitBouschet) Windsor 2014: Very dark/black color; very intense boysenberry/blackberry/Zin/quite spicy/licorice/peppery very dusty/OV slight milk of magnesia light toasty/oak quite complex perfumed nose; lightly tart/tangy very intense blackberry/boysenberry/ripeZin/very spicy/peppery quite dusty/OV light toasty/oak flavor w/ some firm tannins; very long/lingering intense blackberry/boysenberry/Zin very spicy/peppery/licorice quite dusty/OVZin light toasty/oak finish w/ ample firm/hard/ripe tannins; a classic Carlisle Zin; needs 4-10 yrs; beautiful/complex wine. $44.50

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is about as good as it gets for Zin in Calif. It shows ample dusty/OV Zin character, a modest amount of oak, intense fruit w/o being over the top. A Zin that I suspect would even appeal to the AFWE. The wine has a good acidity, is very structured, the alcohol is not obvious....just about everything you expect in a Carlisle Zin. Near perfection.
