WTN: Where Arnoux Going?

by David M. Bueker » Fri Mar 04, 2016 3:17 pm

2005 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Bourgogne Pinot Fin - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (2/27/2016)
Catching up on some notes from last week, this was a joy that punched way above its weight class. It was only just beginning to show a meaningful degree of maturity, so for the mostly non-wine expert crowd it was a fantastic introduction to what happens as Burgundy ages. Deep red fruit, brown spice, damp earth and floral tones were all present on the nose, and the fruit carried all the way to the finish where cinnamon spice kicked in. It still showed structure, though not drying, just framing. Really quite enchanting now, but seems poised for many more years of good drinking.

Cool. From just a Bourgogne. Btw, what does the 'Fin' refer to? Haven't seen that before (isn't that French for 'end'?)
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Pinot Fin is a "heritage breed" of Pinot Noir.
