DorothyGaiter Interviews Parker

by TomHill » Fri Mar 04, 2016 12:18 pm

DorothyGaiter has an interesting interview w/ a Monktown Attourney:
https://grapecollective.com/articles/robert-parker-i-like-wines-that-say-something-back-to-me
when Parker was in NYC to unveil the new WA WebSite.

in which we learn:
1. Giving a score to a wine makes you accountable as a critic. I guess I don't quite understand why that is the case. Which, I presume, that HarryWaugh or HughJohnson were no-accounts??

2. The WineSpectator adopted the Parker 100-pt scoring system. Really?? Their 100-pt scoring system is clearly labeled as "The Wine Spectator 100-pt Scoring System" and I doubt ole Marv would acknowledge stealing Parker's scoring system. They are different scoring systems...as I understand it.

3. "I think if all wines became Parkerized, they'd be much better quality"...spoken in the most humble manner that he can muster. This comes several paragraphs after he asserts winemakers don't make wines to please his palate.

Anyway...a mildly interesting read in which Parker avoids saying anything stupid.
