Tried this Sat night w/ Susan:
1. Failla Viognier AlbanVnyd/EdnaVlly (14.2%; www.FaillaWines.com) 2001: Med.dark gold/burnished bronze color; slight herbal/celery seed bit earthy strong nutty/toasted hazelnuts bit smokey/toasty/oak some pear/peach/Viog very unusual/interesting complex nose; lightly tart some ripe/pineapply/roasted pineapple rather nutty/toasted hazelnuts/slight oxidized somewhat bitter slight pear/peach/Viog very unusual complex flavor; very long nutty/toasted hazelnuts bit tobaccoy bit bitter light pineapple/pear/peach/Viog/roasted complex finish; a rather interesting oldRhone character Viog but not evolving well; not blatently oxidized but a bit bitter.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This is, I seem to recall, Ehren's first Viognier from JohnAlban's grapes. He continues to make this wine, though that association may have come to an end by now.
This wine has some of the oldWhiteRhone nutty character I particularly like, but it had not developed that honeyed character I particularly like. Interesting old Viognier that offered up some pleasure.
