I remember picking up an earlier vintage of Meyer-Fonne something-or-other years back when Meyer-Fonne wines, fairly new to the Kermit Lynch line-up at the time IIRC, were being widely praised on this board. So I was quite surprised to find this at a local retailer, liter bottle this time, MSRP $19 but selling for $11.95 to which I was able to add a 15% discount which reduced the take-home price for an equivalent 750 bottle to a coincidentally apt $7.50. I bought one to sample.
2014 Meyer-Fonné Edelzwicker Alsace White Blend
Bright medium yellow. Flavors and aromas of white flowers, pear, pineapple, quince and green apples. Pear became more dominant over two nights. Lively and delicate at the same time, great acidity and mouthfeel. The finish resonated for hours. Great alone, great with food.
And well worth the MSRP. But at this price? Went back the next day for all the remaining bottles.
