There are plenty of good reports on Josef Leitz worldwide and in the past I have actively posted on the entry level wines with the eye-catching labels! Time to get serious now that owners of fave winestore are keen to promote Leitz big time.
2011 Weingut Josef Leitz Rudesheimer Kirchenpfad Riesling Kabinett feinherb.
First bottle of 2, SC, 11% alc, $24 Cdn, opened one hour, AP# 24-079-032-12.
Medium to deep yellow in color. White stonefruit on the nose, minerally, floral with spice hints. "No honeyed tones" from across the table and "not all that tropical either".
Initial entry thought is off-dry, not much r s at all. Crisp acidity, nice purity of fruit here. Lemony, mineral tones, some green apple, not ripe. Good length, even on day 2 with a deeper color. Its not too complex, has a slight sense of sweetness after overnight in the cooler. Not sure I would keep other bottle that much longer but who knows? Have to wonder about laying down some Goldkapsule but $$$$?
Food was my fave pork tenderloin with bok choy.
