2011 Enfield Wine Co. Syrah Haynes Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/21/2016)
This is everything I want in California, cool climate Syrah. It's all about the savory elements, with warm herbs, rare meat, salty/porky/fatty goodness and subtle black fruit that emerges in the mid palate. Unlike some of the more extreme renditions of cool climate Syrah, the acidity is well integrated, and so the wine is very drinkable on its own. It should also make for a great partner to food. Great stuff from John Lockwood.
