2014 Dirty, Rowdy & Enfield Red Wine Antle Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Chalone (2/12/2016)
California Pinot Noir does not go to the places this wine has gone to. The blend of Mourvèdre and Pinot deepens the wine, and adds notable structure, something I often complain is lacking in California Pinot Noir. The wine needs some serious time, because it takes several hours to open up, and when it does there is a backbone that speaks more to Gevrey or Nuits than the coast of California. Certainly the fruit is all west coast, but the overall structural make up is something more. I am very interested to see where this wine goes, not only with 2 or 3 years of age, but with 10-15 years, and that's for the bottles. The magnums are going to wait a long time.
