A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. So a wine geek walks into this funky wine shop in SantaMonica and asks: "You got any sorta weird Italian $hit". To which Roberto proffers me this btl. "Famoso"??? Never heard of it before.

2. Famoso: An ancient grape indigenous to Emilia-Romagna, which translates as "famous". Yeah...sure!!! There were two rows of Famoso discovered near Forli, being used for table grapes. With about 12.25 ha plantings, it became an "official" Italian grape variety in 2009. Much of it is made into sparkling wine. Also known as "Uva Rambela". Article:

Whilst not a profound Italian white, I thought this was quite a lovely/good-drinking white. Clearly a variety they should be planting all up&down the coast of Calif.
