WTN: Bottom Feeding @ TraderJoe's...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Sat Jan 23, 2016 5:42 pm

Found some new arrivals at TJ's today that I thought I'd try:
1. CherryBlossom PinotNoir Calif (13.5%; CherryBlossom ) Napa 2013: Med.light color; rather coconutty/toasted coconut/ZagNutBar/oak light black cherry/PN slight smokey pleasant/simple nose; rather tart/lean/thin/tight light PN/cherry/black cherry light toasted coconut flavor w/ light hars/bitey tannins; med.short light black cherry/PN tart/thin/eviscerated light smokey/coconutty finish w/ light bitey tannins; a fairly pleasant nose that speaks of PN but thin/lean/hurtey on the palate; rather overpriced at $4.00 (TJ)

2. PaintedPassage GSM SonomaCnty (30% Grenache/52% Syrah/18% Mourv; 14.5%; PaintedPassage ) Healdsburg 2014: Med.light color; fairly strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy/strawberry/Grenache light toasty/oak rather attractive/simple nose; fairly tart some blackberry/Syrah/spicy/blueberry light toasty/oak bit lean/tight flavor w/ light lean/bitey tannins; med.long blackberry/blueberry/Syrah/spicy light toasty/oak finish w/ light lean tannins; would like a bit more richness/lushness but a pleasant enough GSM blend that speaks mostly of Syrah; a pleasant red at a fair enough price. $11.00 (TJ)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. One of the real joys of a (long/boring) life is bottom feeding at TraderJoe's. So was 1 for 2 today. The CherryBlossom Napa address suggests a FredFranzia/Bronco wine. Which it indeed is. The PaintedPassage I cannot identify the producer in Healdsburg. What is interesting that on the GoogleSearch, the 6'th hit is on ToxiPedia...History of Lead Use in Wine. Hmmmmm????
There should be a new white Rhone Blend '14 at TJ's coming from the Miller's CentralCoastWineCoop/SantaMaria any day now. That's what I'm looking for.
