Monday was roast chicken (after overnight marination in buttermilk and herbs), beets, and salad with the 2014 Clos de Roilette (Coudert) Fleurie. Really easy to like- crunchy raspberry and cherry fruit, some herbal notes, just a hint of provencal spices. Good acids, light but supporting tannin, nice length. This could age a bit but I’m betting my bottles go to an early death. B++

Tuesday Betsy was in city and I had leftovers and the 2013 Trimbach Pinot Blanc. Dry but with sweet pear and melon fruit, decent acids, some mineral and smoke on finish. Not very complex- hey, it’s PB- but clean and a fine value at under $10, B/B-

Wednesday was all clear liquids (unfortunately not including white wine) followed by a colon cleanser (much better than old ones), Thursday I didn’t have alcohol after colonoscopy in AM. So tonight happy to open the 2013 Francois Carillon Puligny-Montrachet with some steamed clams while I prepare for unexpected guests. Midbodied, good tension, pear fruit with a touch of hazelnut and toast. Pleasant, typical, young. B/B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Good notes. I have not bought much Coudert lately since I have a bit, but it might be about time.
