2012 Peay Vineyards Chardonnay Estate - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (1/14/2016)
Apples, citrus and a dash of oak that is well balanced with the fruit are the main elements that come out at first. It actually takes quite a while to get much more, and for the mid-palate to flesh out, as this wine is very tight. Even warming did not do much to open it up texturally, only time did the job. My only bottle, but for those who have some it might be best to hold for a while. Essentially zero prior experience with Peay, so it's not clear to me if that tight, focused style is the end game or merely a phase. If I had more I would wait and see, as the raw materials are very nice.

Sometimes David's humor is a bit subtle for us mere mortals!!! This isn't the first time
it went right over my head.

I remember seeing Austin Peay play in the NCAA basketball March Madness some years back and their unforgettable cheer "Lets go P----, Gotta go P----"

Still, I needed your University hint before I caught on, David
and , Mark, Austin Peay State University ain't in Texas

I just ordered tickets for seven events (over four days) at the Nantucket Wine Festival in May, including two Pinot events. Andy Peay will be at one of them. I attended an event several years ago at NWF with Andy Peay, Ehren Jordan of Failla, and David Hirsch. Hirsch is marketing some nice Chardonnays also. I am contemplating one additional very expensive dinner event but had a question for the organizer about wines being served before I commit to a ticket for the event. Ticket sales just opened today but some events sell out quickly.

This bottle was part of a trial balloon purchase of 4 Peay wines. I will be trying the Pinots soon. We'll see.

Is one of the Pinots the Pomarium? I have liked that in the past.
