Used mostly as a cooking wine, the 2010 Trimbach Riesling was good for level- dry, ginger and apple, good finish, good crispness. B

Wednesday I had a speech, Betsy went out to dinner, when I made it home I had assorted leftovers with a half bottle of 2013 Barat Chablis. A little shrill, more acid than fruit, not a lot of complexity but clean. B-

(a cold might make my TNs even more suspect over last few days )

Thursday I made teriyaki salmon, asparagus in a miso sauce, broccoli with parmesan and panko, and rice. I was surprised by the 2011 Cowan “Moaveni- Bennett Valley” Syrah. Grapey, a bit hightoned, quite tannic. B-

Friday was ribeye, salad with capers, croutons, and horseradish dressing, the 2001 Sociando-Mallet was young but showing some complexity. Red and black fruits, some Sociando herbalness, smoke. B+

We took the Ottolenghi “Plenty” Moroccan carrots to a potluck Sat, other dishes included chicken, moosewood mac’n’cheese, vegetarian chili, salads, dips, cauliflower, brussels sprouts.

2014 Pajot “4 Cepages” white
grassy, empty, short C

2013 Cazin Cheverny
Fresh, apple and citrus, hint of grass, fun. B/B+

2010? 14 Hands Merlot
Sweet, soft, round, gloppy. C/C+

NV Sorelle Bronca Extra Dry Prosecco
Sweet ripe pear, a little spice, easy to drink, enough acid to balance the very faint sweetness. B/B+

(I forgot to note info on a bland CdR)

Last night we traveled over the hill with white bean dip with smoked oysters, our friends had made roast chicken, salad, pasta with meatballs and sausage.

2009 Bedrock “Caritas” white
Pit fruits, almonds, a little oak. Full styled. B

2011 Luisin Nebbiolo (Langhe)
Round, fruity, simple B-/C+

2012 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico
Fairly round, ripe cherry fruit, a little leather and cedar. Nice. B/B+

2002 Galardi Terra di Lavo (Roccamonfina)
Decanted about 2 hours before dinner. Big, black plum, coffee, smoke. Quiter powerful, sturdy tannins. B/B+

I walked the dog home while the others watched Downton Abbey.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Thanks for the Sociando note. Will leave mine alone a bit longer.
