Sunday Chat

by James Roscoe » Sun Jan 10, 2016 11:11 am

Java continues to keep the Prince from hie adoring masses. Please come to Chat despite this disappointment and discuss all the topics of the week.(Especially the speculation on the 2016 MoCool theme!) Here are the times when the fun gets started: at 4 p.m. Eastern Time; 3 p.m. Central Time; 2 p.m. Mountain Time; 1 p.m. Pacific Time; 9 p.m. in the U.K; 10 p.m. in Italy, France, Germany, and Sweden; 11 p.m. in Finland and Israel; 8 a.m. Monday in Sydney and environs; and 10 a.m. Monday in New Zealand. I believe these are all corrected for standard time changes. If I am off, let me know. Please let me know when the time changes your neck of the woods so I remember to make the appropriate changes.

The fun starts HERE!!

Is it time to take another look at a new, non-Java chat room for the new year and the new century? I'd be happy to get it taken care of, but could use some research help from the chat bunch to find and settle on a good alternative that's not too costly. (The current one taps the WLDG treasury for about $10/mo, which is doable, but I wouldn't want to go up much from that QPR point.)

Well, I'm in now, but I know that many are kept out because of the Java hurdle, which strangely is hard to get over. I did some searching for a non-Java chat some time ago, but was not very successful. I'll give it a try again, but if someone more knowledgeable than me could give a helping hand, we'd all be very grateful. A more accessible chat would definitely be needed, lest there is a clear risk that the chat will die out.

Cheers,
Anders

I am working on getting over the Java hurdle, but it is difficult. Most new browsers don't like the plug-ins.

No, I've been unable to do chat ever since we went from PC to Mac. Steve Jobs considered Java a virus.

Anders, I'll help. We can talk here or you can catch me at robingarr (at) gmail dot etc.
