Always good discussions here when mentioning Chateau de Lancyre so I thought time to check out the `08 vintage.
2008 Chateau de Lancyre Coteaux du Languedoc Pic St. Loup Vieilles Vignes.
Cellared 3 years, well soaked natural cork, $25 Cdn, 14% alc, 65/35% Syrah/Grenache.. Decanted served slightly chilled some sediment noted.
The color has a good medium depth with just a slight hint of bricking. Starting to show some age development on the nose but all is good...meaty, red berries, plum and cherry on day 2.
Initial entry thought is dry, not a lot of ripe fruit here. Well integrated tannins, old-world style for sure. Very good acidity, fair mid-palate, "black fruits" from across the table. Medium-bodied, could have used more spice and pepper on the finish I thought?
Big development on day 2 with riper fruit and smooth finish," liked the plum component". Very good match with veal medaillons and roasted peppers. I see the 2013 vintage is downtown.
