NWR question-ads

Anyone else getting ads that jut out into the main forum page instead of politely living in the left sidebar?

You may have jinxed me David. Didn't have that problem until a few minutes ago and now it was blocking part of my latest tasting note so I wasn't sure it had transmitted and resent it and now it appears twice but one is partially blocked on my screen. Crazy. And I'm not using a mini pad.

Did you notice what kind of an ad it is, JC? Did it look spammy? Click button calling for a response?

It was something about Microsoft Office 10 I believe. So far, isn't showing up today.

I try to delete one of the repetitive posts and get a message "The post doesn't exist." Hunh? And I got the blocking ad again, this time about "doorbusters."

It sure sounds like some kind of adware, JC. It doesn't seem to be widespread, and our server folks - who are very serious about security - say the server is clean. I hate to advise folks to use ad blockers on the forum, since we need to pay the rent ;) ... but running a virus/malware check couldn't hurt, and if you have to do an adblock to make the forum readable, I can't quibble with that.

I have not heard of adware/malware that hits iPads. Yet.

I googled and found some anecdotal reports, but as I think you once said, "the plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'."

Did you try that app I sent you, and did it help?
