Camillo Donati Rosso della Bandita 2013
Emilia Rosso I.G.P.; 12,5% abv

Lambrusco can be awesome stuff if dry and tangy. And this was about the best sparkling red from Emilia-Romagna that I've had - though it's not Lambrusco but a blend of Barbera, Lambrusco, Malvasia and Trebbiano.

Very deep red. The scent is delightfully earthy with plenty of sweet red fruit and some sour/lactic/yoghurt thing going on as well in the background.

Dry, tannic and refreshing; very precise and pure and no excessive fruit or sweetness. This is really tasty stuff. Expensive in comparison what most Lambrusco is but it's still the kind of stuff that I shouldn't write about here because I want to empty the world of it before anyone else finds out.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

No experience with Lambrusco so thanks Otto. Sounds of real interest as I do like sparkling reds sometimes.

Found this of interest>>>

Ah yes, Lambrusco brings back fond memories of underage drinking adventures in the '70s. Giaccobazzi and Riunite were the name brands but we liked something called Benassi, primarily because it sold for $0.99 a bottle! But the new style is quite enjoyable too.

I've had Reunite Lambrusco but my favorite was one called Contessa Matilda or something close to that.

Good Lambrusco is delicious, and perfect with certain foods, such as pizza or salumi. You should be able to get very good examples for less than $20, even $15.
