Tried this this afternoon (drinking grappa in the middle of the afternoon is not a good idea):
1. Francoli Grappa Ghemme (Nebbiolo; 40%; Aged in oak for 3 yrs) Ghemme NV : Med.yellow color; strong alcoholic/fumey light caramel/oak bit earthy some fragrant nose; very hot/alcoholic/fumey/burning light caramel/oak bit perfumed flavor; very long hot/fumey/burning/alcoholic slightly smooth light caramel/oak finish; no evidence of either Nebbiolo nor Ghemme; not at the level of the Noninos but fairly decent...if you like alcohol. $29.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Last week we tried the Torraccia del Piantavigna Ghemme, which I liked quite a lot. They also produce grappa under the Francoli label. So when I saw it this weekend, I felt compelled to try it.
I must admit that I'm not a big fan of Italian grappa. This seemed better than many I've tried...but it's not a genre that I particularly embrace. Just too much alcohol for my palate and I have a hard time finding a place for it at my table.
